Albireo Presenting at BERDO

Learn how you can stay in compliance with the City of Boston local law by joining Albireo at the BERDO Training Seminar.

In 2013, the City of Boston enacted the Building Energy Reporting and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO), which requires owners of large to mid-sized buildings to report energy and water usage to the City of Boston annually.

Acting as a key element in the effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent by the year 2020, reporting and disclosure aims to provide information and encourage building owners and tenants to:

  1. Increase Energy Efficiency
  2. Reduce Energy Costs
  3. Utilize Incentives

May 15, 2015 marks the deadline for residential buildings with over 50 units or greater than 50,000 square feet. Owners must report their energy and water usage for the 2014 calendar year by this date. Energy usage includes:

  1. Electricity
  2. Natural Gas
  3. Propane
  4. Oil
  5. Steam

While water is simply water and sewer usage.

Condominium and condo board owners must ensure all tenant data is reported to the city.

The reporting process does take time and effort, however Albireo will help make the process easier and will make sure you stay compliant with local law ordinance going forward. Albireo manages the city’s Boston Buying Power Program providing the benefit of bulk purchasing for the energy needs of thousands of local companies.

In addition to procurement, Albireo provides energy and water tracking and monitoring services to its customers as well as BERDO compliance support.
